One-quarter of the air purifier is not qualified! Do you have a brand?
Recently, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced the results of 10 national inspections of product quality closely related to consumers’ daily lives. Among them, the pass rate of air purifier products was 75.4%, that is, every four commercial breaths of air. In the purifier, there is one product that is unqualified.
The spot check was the first national supervision and inspection of air purifiers. A total of 61 batches of products produced by 56 enterprises in 8 provinces (cities) were randomly selected. The number of random inspection enterprises was nearly one-fifth of the total number of production enterprises in the country, covering the industry. All well-known brand companies. 21 items including safety indicators, performance indicators and electromagnetic compatibility indicators of the products were tested.
15 batches of product purification performance failed
For the performance indicators that consumers are most concerned about, that is, the detection of air purification capacity, the inspection results show that 15 batches of products produced by 14 companies are unqualified, and the detection rate of unqualified products is 24.6%. Among them, the clean air volume of the particulate matter was unqualified in 2 batches, and the cumulative amount of particulate matter was unqualified in 1 batch. The formaldehyde purification energy efficiency (efficiency) was unqualified in 3 batches, and 5 batches of noise were unqualified.

Buy air purifiers to identify six core indicators
Of the 61 batches of this random inspection, 35 batches of products implemented the latest national standard GB/T 18801-2015 “Air Purifier” implemented on March 1, 2016, accounting for 57.4% of the total number of products inspected. For products that do not implement this latest national standard, the performance indicators are determined according to the implementation criteria and the stated quality requirements of the sampled product. Experts said that not implementing new national standards does not mean that companies can reduce product quality at will. In fact, the current domestic mainstream brands have all explicitly implemented new national standards.
At the same time of conducting spot checks, in order to better guide consumers to purchase, the quality inspection department also carried out the testing and comparison of key performance indicators of the products, and the clean air volume (CADR) and formaldehyde cleanliness of all the products being spotted. Six core performance indicators such as air volume (CADR), particulate matter-energy efficiency (efficiency), formaldehyde purification energy efficiency (efficiency), particulate matter purification (CCM), and noise are detected, and the individual test values are combined with the results of the spot check to the society. Announced to guide consumers to scientifically and rationally select products.
Experts recommend that consumers choose the air purifier product as a reference, and give priority to selecting products that are judged to be qualified. “Because the implementation of the new national standard products, on the one hand, it shows that its quality is relatively good, on the other hand, it also shows that its various nominal values are sound, there is no suspicion of deceiving consumers.”
Experts suggest that consumers who are concerned about smog are advised to choose a purifier with better particle purification ability. The need to remove formaldehyde depends on the CADR indicator is a relatively large purifier.
