Air means the gas surrounding the earth, which supported human being and other living organisms. Air quality represents the degree of air pollution, which was measured off by the consistence of pollutant in the air.

Carbon Monoxide: Carbon Monoxide is the product of the imperfect combustion of coal, oil and other carbonaceous matters, which is a colourless, odourless, non-irritating and poisonous gas. Carbon Monoxide is practically insoluble in water, difficult to have chemical reaction with other matters in the air, so it could stay in the atmosphere for more than 2~3 years. If the concentration big enough, it could harm and even kill over a long period of time.
Inhalable Particulates: Means particles suspended in a gas, wholes diameter is less than 10 micron. Concentration of paticles is denoted by the mg. numerical value of inhalable particulates in each stere. The smaller particles could be breathed the deeper. Total suspended particulates is a blanket term for suspended solid and liquid state particulates, diameter of these particulates is about 0.1~100 micron. Some particulates such as soot is visible because it’s dark enough or with larger diameter, while some particulates are very small, which can be seen only under an electron microscope. Usually we call the particulates PM10, inhalable particulates or floating dust if the diameter is smaller than 10 micron. PM10 could stay in air over a long period of time, which effect healthy and visibility in atmosphere a lot.
Nitrogen oxides: Most nitrogen oxides are come from the burning of fossil fuels. For example, automobile, plane, gas engine and combustion process of industrial stoves are all release nitrogen oxides. Process of production and make use of nitric acid would also release nitrogen oxides, such as nitrogenous fertilizer plants, non-ferrous metals and black metal smelting works.
Air quality not only relate to living quality of human being, but also to the other biologicals in the earth. Therefore, we need to make conscious efforts to safeguard the environment, improve our living condition and air quality.
